SugarBee® Apple Rose Puff Pastries

These beautiful apple rose puff pastries made with SugarBee® apples are delicious, and serve as great decor. Plate them as a wreath to make them perfect for the Holidays!

Ingredients:

  • 2 puff pastry sheets
  • 2 SugarBee® apples
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • Cinnamon (for topping)
  • Brown sugar (for topping)
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Rosemary and fresh cranberries for plating

Instructions:

  1. Thaw puff pastry and preheat oven to 390 F. Cut out rectangles from the puff pastry. Cut apples in half, core, then cut into thin slices with a sharp knife.
  2. Place slices in a microwave bowl, sprinkle lemon juice, and mix well. Microwave for 2 to 2 ½ minutes or until apple slices are soft enough to be rolled (experiment first as microwave ovens have different settings).
  3. Strain apples through a sieve and discard juice.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pastry sheet until half thin.
  5. Using a pastry or pizza wheel, divide into 4″ wide strips and brush each strip with melted butter.
  6. Place one strip on the counter and line apple slices along top half of the strip, overlapping the apple slices. The top (skin side) of the slices should stick out a little.
  7. Use a spoon to sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar across the puff pastry.
  8. Fold up the bottom half of the strip, to cover the bottom parts of the apple slices.
  9. Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough, keeping the apple slices in place.
  10. Place in a greased, non-stick muffin tin.
  11. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden.
  12. Let pastries rest for 10 minutes before arranging into a wreath using a round cutting board, fresh rosemary, and cranberries.
  13. Dust with powdered sugar (optional).
