SugarBee® Apple Sorghum Cookies

This cookie box is made up of sweet, spicy, and chewy apple sorghum cookies, chocolate-dipped dried SugarBee® apple slices, and whole SugarBee® apples for a sweet and healthy spin on your holiday cookie box!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon 
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • ½ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup butter (1 ½ sticks)
  • ⅓ cup dark brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup sorghum 
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 diced SugarBee® apple 
  • ⅓ cup sugar for rolling

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease two sheet pans.
  2. Beat the butter and sugars with an electric mixer until light and fluffy in a large bowl. 
  3. Add the egg, sorghum, and vanilla and mix until it’s well blended. 
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, and spices, and mix on low until all the flour has been incorporated. 
  5. Lastly fold in the diced apple.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or a spoon, scoop about 1 inch of cookie dough and roll into a ball. 
  7. Pour about ⅓ cup sugar in a bowl. Roll each cookie dough ball into the sugar and place it on a baking sheet. Keep each cookie two inches apart. 
  8. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Dried apple slices

Ingredients:

  • 2 SugarBee® apples
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening

Directions:

  1. Slice two apples and place the slices on a lined baking sheet.
  2. Bake at 200 degrees for 4-5 hours.
  3. Make the chocolate dip by combining the chocolate chips and shortening in a heat-proof bowl. 
  4. Heat a pot of water over medium-high heat and place the chocolate bowl over the hot water. Heat and stir until all the chocolate has melted. 
  5. Dip the dried slices in the chocolate and let dry on a lined baking sheet.
