SugarBee® Apple Butter
SugarBee® apples are Daniella Monet’s go-to apple when making her classic apple butter recipe. This simple recipe is elevated by SugarBee’s flavor notes of honey, caramel and molasses, and they add the perfect amount of sweetness. Serve with SugarBee® apple slices and you’ll have the perfect ‘better for you’ treat!
Ingredients:
- 3 lb. SugarBee® apples
- 3/4 c. apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (or a combo of both, as long as it equals about 3/4 c)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Filtered water
- 1 c. packed light brown sugar or coconut sugar
- 1 tbsp. Cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions:
- Start by chopping or slicing your apples. If you are using a food mill, you can keep the skin on, if you are using a blender or food processor, it may be best to remove the skin. I like the nutrients in the skin of the apple, so I keep it on regardless. The skin contains vitamins and fiber, which is why I opt to keep it in.
- Once everything has been chopped/peeled, add to a pot. I love to use my cast iron pot for this recipe! Add in your water, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and salt.
- While on the stove, be sure to cover it but not entirely, leaving a little room for it to vent out. Medium heat should be good and stir it a few times. After 30 minutes or so, remove from heat and blend. Most of the liquid should be gone.
- The next part is where you can use a food mill or blender. The mixture should turn into a sauce. Once it is. Transfer it back into your pot and add the rest of your ingredients. Let it simmer for anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. As time goes on, it should get browner and more sticky in texture (less liquidy).
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Serve with SugarBee® apple slices!
