3 DIY Fruit-Based Skincare Treatments
Improve your complexion and moisturize your skin with these fun DIY skincare treatments using Chelan Fresh fruit!
Before you begin:
Be sure to wash your apples first by rubbing under running water and dry them completely.
Test any mask you make on a small patch of skin and let sit for 5-10 minutes before spreading across your face and neck – try the side of your neck or along your jaw in a discreet area. If any reaction occurs, discontinue use.
SugarBee® Apple Cinnamon Honey Face Mask
Both Cinnamon and Honey have fantastic antimicrobial properties which can help lessen acne, and all three ingredients are full of antioxidants which can help with inflammation and signs of aging. Don’t try this mask if you’re allergic to bees or any of the below ingredients.
What you need:
- 4 tbsp Raw Honey (Try Raw Manuka Honey!)
- 1 SugarBee® Apple
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon
- Blender
Method:
- Skin and dice the SugarBee® Apple, removing the core of the apple as you dice.
- Add the diced SugarBee® Apple, cinnamon and honey to your blender. Blend until smooth.
- Spread mixture over skin, leave for ten minutes, and rinse skin with cool water.
- Follow with toner, serum, and moisturizer of your choice.
DIY Anti-Aging Cherry Honey Face Mask
Cherries are full of antioxidants and a great natural supply of vitamin A, B, C, and E which all help prevent premature aging in the skin. Paired with honey, which is full of antibacterial and antiseptic properties, this mask could not only help with signs of aging, but could be a great benefit to those with oily and acne prone skin while keeping the skin moist and supple.
What you need:
- 5-6 Chelan Fresh Cherries, pitted (see how to pit cherries here!) {link to cherry pitting post}
- 2 Tbsp Raw Honey
- A Fork (for mashing!)
Method:
- After pitting cherries, place them in a small bowl and add honey.
- Mash honey and cherries together with a fork.
- Once cherries and honey are fully combined, spread mixture over face and neck.
- Let sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
- Pat dry and finish with toner, serum, and moisturizer of your choice.
Exfoliating Pear Sugar Scrub
Pears have great anti-inflammatory properties and are a natural humectant, meaning they can help keep your skin feeling plump and moisturized without getting too oily! Use this great pear sugar scrub on your face, feet, hands, elbows — anywhere you’d like your skin to feel softer and smoother!
What you need:
- ½ of a Chelan Fresh Pear
- 1 c. Sugar
- 1 tsp. Vitamin E oil
- ¼ c. Almond Oil
- Blender
Method:
- Add pear half to blender and blend until smooth.
- Remove pear mash from the blender and place in a small bowl.
- Add sugar, vitamin E oil, and almond oil* to the bowl, and mix until well combined.
*If you’d prefer a thinner scrub, just add more almond oil! - Place scrub into an airtight container and refrigerate. Use within a day or two of making.
- To use, simply rub on any area of skin to exfoliate, and then rinse with warm water. Keep away from eyes, and don’t use if any signs of irritation occur.
