SugarBee® apple Cinnamon Rolls

These SugarBee® Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls are the perfect holiday treat! This straightforward recipe begins by roughly dicing SugarBee apples with the skin on for added nutrients, and is elevated by the natural flavors of the apples—molasses, honey, and caramel. Bake for 18 minutes, then savor the delicious result!

 

Yield: 5-7 Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients:
1 can of vegan cinnamon rolls
2 SugarBee apples, cored and diced
2 tbsp vegan butter
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp ginger powder
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup cane sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp water
1 tsp cornstarch

Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. For the homemade apple pie filling, begin by melting butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add apples, cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg, brown sugar, cane sugar, lemon juice, and ginger powder.
3. Cook until the apples are softened, stirring occasionally. If necessary, add a tablespoon of water to aid in softening the apples.
4. Once the apples are softened, stir in the cornstarch slurry (2 tbsp water, 1 tsp cornstarch) and remove from heat.
5. To assemble the cinnamon rolls, spray a muffin tin with non-stick spray. Roll out the cinnamon rolls with a rolling pin and press them into the muffin tins.
6. Pour the apple mixture into each cinnamon roll and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Remove from the oven and let them sit in the muffin tin for a few minutes. Carefully transfer them to a cooling rack.
8. Drizzle icing over the cinnamon roll cups.
9. Serve them warm or at room temperature.
